NZIFDA Certification for Oil Contamination Services — What It Means
EEK Mechanical is NZIFDA Certified for oil contamination recovery services in New Zealand. Here is what that certification means and why it matters.
NZIFDA and Oil Contamination
The New Zealand Insoluble Fuel Disposal Agency (NZIFDA) has expanded its certification programme to cover engine oil contamination services alongside its established misfuel and fuel contamination certifications. EEK Mechanical holds Tier 1 Certified Operator status for both fuel contamination and engine oil contamination recovery.
What Certification Requires
NZIFDA certification for oil contamination services requires operators to hold Dangerous Goods Licences for the transport of contaminated oil; carry Professional Indemnity Insurance of at least $2 million; demonstrate compliance with EPA and Waste Minimisation Act disposal requirements; maintain technician training records; and file each disposal event on the NZIFDA Oil Disposal Register.
Why It Matters for Your Insurance Claim
When you submit an insurance claim for oil contamination damage, your insurer wants evidence that the oil was removed and disposed of correctly. EEK Mechanical's NZIFDA certified report provides this evidence in a format accepted by all major New Zealand insurers. It also protects you from personal liability for improper hazardous waste disposal — a risk that applies to any property owner whose vehicle leaks contaminated oil.

Our certification can be verified at nzifda.org/verify. Certification details are also included on every job invoice and oil contamination report we provide.
